The Ministry of Defense has established a specialized unit responsible for the introduction and development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, the ministry’s press service reported.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the new structure will serve as a key element in the digital transformation of the Armed Forces.
“The primary tasks of the unit include the development and implementation of AI solutions for big data analysis, automation of command and control, modeling of operational scenarios, and enhancing the speed of decision-making in the context of modern military operations,” the statement noted.
The unit will cooperate with domestic and international research centers, leading universities, and specialized IT companies. This will enable not only the adoption of advanced technologies in the defense sector but also the formation of a national school of military applications of artificial intelligence.
“The establishment of the AI implementation unit is also aimed at strengthening human capital: it is planned to train officer-analysts and digital technology specialists capable of working with modern algorithms and systems,” the ministry added.
