Kazakhstan and the European Union Support Visa Facilitation Standards

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the European Commission has received a mandate from EU member states to conclude a protocol on the simplification of visa procedures for Kazakh citizens.

The negotiations on the agreement cover the following facilitation measures:

  • reduced processing times for visa applications;
  • a shortened list of required documents;
  • lower visa fees;
  • broader access to multiple-entry visas with extended validity periods;
  • introduction of preferential categories of applicants.

The exact date for the signing of the agreement will be determined upon the completion of relevant procedures by both parties.

It is noted that the proposed changes will enter into force following the completion of domestic approval processes. The Ministry emphasized that the conclusion of this agreement will enhance opportunities for Kazakh citizens to travel to EU countries and contribute to the development of business, trade, economic cooperation, and cultural and humanitarian ties.
