A new airport is planned to be constructed in the Katon-Karagay resort area of the East Kazakhstan Region, covering a total area of 266 hectares, according to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The airport is expected to be located near the village of Belkaragay.
The project envisions the construction of a passenger terminal with an area of up to 4,000 square meters and a throughput capacity of up to 150 passengers per hour, an air traffic control tower, an apron with parking stands for four aircraft, and a 2,200-meter-long runway.
The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan has not disclosed the estimated cost or the implementation timeline of the project.
